Erma's Favorites

My very favorites.

On Monday, March 10, my mom said to me when she heard me humming:
"Ohma, it's too bad you can't sing no more. You used to sing good."
Thanks mom. I spent the entire next day singing Tracy Chapman's, Heaven's Here On Earth. She's right.

A facebook friend posted the BladeRunner Trailer and I was asked about the Horses story  I watch the Walking Dead with one of my favorite people every week and I have multiple types of copies of the books.

I'll add more as I come across 'em.

(I am still banned from telling the Horses story at outmeets.)
Love the human drama following an apocalypse. In fact, I love most apocalyptic aftermath movies. The human condition and struggle when faced with adversity is fascinating to me.

"There is a clue here.
The seat of this higher valor, I suspect, lies in that which is female. The words themselves for courage, andreia and aphobia are female, whereas phobos and tromos, terror, are masculine. Perhaps the god we seek is not a god at all, but a goddess. I don’t know."

"There was a scream,
and everyone looked at the girl.
It was not she who had screamed, but the cutler's wife beside her. But the girl was the cause of the scream. She had sunk to her knees in front of the gallows, with her arms adopted to utter a curse. The people shrank from her in fear: everyone knew that the curses of those who had suffered injustice were particularly effective, and they had all suspected that something was not quite right about this hanging. The small boys were terrified."
~Ken Follet | Pillars of the Earth

Stories matter. Many stories matter. Stories have been used to dispossess and to malign, but stories can also be used to empower and to humanize. Stories can break the dignity of a people, but stories can also repair that broken dignity.

Everyone has a story to tell; sometimes several, including me. Here are some stories from my life and from others.

Before I got this website I had another blog. Take a look at some of the stories here:
